TERMS OF REFERENCE
The Infectious Diseases Resident Program Committee shall function as an advisory committee to the Director of the Infectious Diseases Resident Training Program in the Division of Infectious in matters related to Infectious Diseases subspecialty residents and rotating resident training. The Committee is charged with solving problems, proposing policies, and improving the Infectious Diseases Resident Training Program. In the event of a disagreement between residents in training and any of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, Department of Postgraduate Medical Education or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, it will act as the agent in assisting the negotiation between the different parties.
FUNCTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE
The RPC Committee functions to assist the program director in the planning, organization, and supervision of the program. Specific aspects include:
To define required clinical and laboratory rotations to meet general standards of Royal College accreditation and Infectious Diseases specialty specific standards
To review the curriculum and resources of the training program and make recommendations for the program's continual improvement
To define learning objectives in each rotation
To evaluate and promote residents, and to maintain an appropriate appeals mechanism
To communicate with the RCPSC via the ID Subspecialty Committee
To evaluate applicants to the Infectious Diseases Training Program and submit rankings to the Department of Medicine
To establish mechanisms of career planning and counseling for residents.
*Note: The committee meets, keeping minutes, at least 4 times annually.
