EXPECTATIONS OF ID LEAD RESIDENTS
Administration Component of ID Training: Lead ID Resident Administrative Expectations
Academic and Scheduling Duties:
Coordinates Subspecialty Resident Sessions
Coordinates Rotators Subspecialty call allotments
Coordination of Subspecialty Residents (SSR) call throughout the year
Overall coordination of ID Weekly Rounds
Fosters sense of “esprit de corps” amongst residents
Crisis management / counselling for residents encountering difficulties
Aids in coordinating social events within the Division
Schedules Journal Club
Administrative Meetings:
Residency Program Committee - 4 times per year
Meeting with Program Director 4 times per year
Recruitment:
The Lead Resident & other SSRs participate in the interview selection process for incoming SSR – reviewing and ranking applications. A standardized evaluation form is used to rank the candidates based on a combination of attributes gleaned from the electronic application and the interview.
UAH Consult Subspecialty Residents/Fellows Expectations:
Coordinates ID Rounds weekly from the UAH site- including liaising with the RAH, Peds and other presenters
Coordinates Rotator’s weekly Teaching at the UAH site
Fosters environment on the consultation service conducive for learning by the rotators and medical students
