Academic Half Days are protected time for you, so please sign out via locating to another resident or your staff person on these days. As a courtesy, please remind staff of your absence on Tuesday afternoons. If you have trouble getting to half-day on time due to clinical commitments, please make the Chief Resident or the Program Coordinator aware so that this can be rectified.
Mondays from 1230-1330 in Classroom D in UAH
All residents will be required to present at rounds at least once per academic year. You will be assigned a date and time and must be sure to forward your presentation and objectives to the Program Coordinator.
Mondays and Fridays: 0730-0800 in the ZLC Large Boardroom
Tuesdays through Thursdays: 0800-0830 in the ZLC Large Boardroom
Handover rounds are mandatory for the GI resident on call the previous night and the GI residents on-service at UAH, however, all residents are welcome.
Journal Club is a monthly activity and is usually the second Tuesday of the month from 1830-2030. You will receive an invitation and request for RSVP at least two weeks in advance. Please be sure when sending your RSVP to include any dietary requirements.
First two days of Residency.
This is a mandatory Introduction to Endoscopy 2-day course hosted by the University of Alberta Division of GI. New GI residents in Western Canada are invited and the course is presented largely by University GI staff, however, there are some guest speakers.
