Research

Members of the Division of Neurology at the University of Alberta are involved in basic and clinical neurosciences research in the majority of subspecialty areas within neurology. Residents are expected to initiate and complete a research project under the direction of divisional members during the final three years of training. Topics and duration of research rotation are flexible, depending on the resident's interest and career goals.  There is a research coordinator (Dr. Sim), who meets with each resident every six months starting in PGY1 to help design research projects around each resident's goals.

Opportunity exists for pursuing a graduate research project and receiving a MSc during the R3-4 years through the Department of Medicine.

The University of Alberta also offers a competitive Clinical Investigator Program (CIP) for funded Masters or PhD programs.
