Elements of Narrative Writing:
Setting - When and where the story occurs. What is the place & time? What is the atmosphere?
Characters - The who or what. The protagonist is the main character whose actions form the basis of the plot. The Antagonist is the character who opposes or creates obstacles for the protagonist.
Plot - What happens in the story. What are the events of the story?
Conflict - All plots have conflict or a struggle between forces. Conflicts can be described as human vs human; human vs nature; human vs society; human vs him/herself.
Point of View - The position from which the story is told. Is the narrator the protagonist? This is first person p.o.v. Is someone not a character telling the story? This is third person narration.
Theme - The main point or central idea of the story. What is the author's message? Is there a moral?
