The purpose of this policy is to protect the workplace from inappropriate use of prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, alcohol or any illegal substance. Superior Industries, Inc. substance and abuse policy applies to all Superior Industries, Inc. employees and all job applicants.
Superior Industries prohibits the use, possession, transfer, and sale of alcohol, inhalants and illegal drugs while working, while on all premises owned or operated by the company, and while operating any company vehicle, machinery or equipment or driving a vehicle on Company business. It also prohibits reporting for work or working anywhere on behalf of Superior Industries while under the influence of illegal drugs, inhalants, or alcohol. This policy applies to all official or unofficial break and meal periods and all other times during the working day in which an employee has reported to work. Illegal drugs means; inhalants and controlled substances and includes medications which contain a controlled substance which are used for a purpose or a person for which they were not prescribed or intended.
The use and possession of properly prescribed drugs and medication is permitted, provided that it does not interfere with the employee’s job performance or propose a direct threat to the health or safety of the employees and/or others.
In accord with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988, employees must notify Superior Industries of any conviction under criminal drug use statute for violations occurring a) on Company premises or b) off Company premises while conducting Company business, within five (5) days after such conviction.
A copy of Superior Industries Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy is given to the job applicant at time of written job offer and upon request.
