It is essential that you be punctual and regular in your attendance. Each employee is an important part of the team and is needed on the job every day to maintain production schedules and high morale among the employees who regularly work as scheduled. When you do not work as scheduled, other employees experience disruptions in their schedules and work routines, and the Company experiences increased costs, which can lead to lost business because of our failure to meet customer delivery, quality, and price requirements. Employees should allow enough time to get prepared for work so that they are in their work stations ready to begin their day at starting time. Non exempt employees (hourly) will punch into the automated time clock on the company’s intranet which will be calculated based on Central Standard Time (CST).
Occasionally, when illness or family emergencies make absence or lateness unavoidable, it is very important that you call or text your Supervisor as soon as possible - preferably before your starting time.
The employee must obtain permission to be absent or it may be considered a Voluntary Resignation.
The Company has adopted the following attendance policy:
1. You are expected to report for work on time and to work each of your scheduled workdays.
2. You must give prior notice to the Company whenever you report late or are absent from work. Employees absent three (3) consecutive days without notice to the Company will be considered to have voluntarily resigned.
3. Employees whose tardiness or absences have become a problem will be counseled. During counseling, our attendance policy will be reviewed, the severity and nature of an employee's absences will be discussed, and a joint determination will be made concerning what assistance or aid may be given to eliminate the underlying causes of the absenteeism or tardiness problem.
4. Those employees whose tardiness or absences continue to be a problem after being counseled will be terminated.
The following guidelines will be used to administer the Company attendance policy:
Counseling: 1-4 incidents of tardiness or 1 unexcused absence in the previous 12 months. Counseling may include documentation of disciplinary action in the employee's personnel file.
First Warning (Written): 5 incidents of tardiness or 2 unexcused absences in the previous 12 months. The written documentation will contain an outline of the incident, the disciplinary measure taken, and the result of further occurrences of the problem.
Second Warning (Suspension): 6 incidents of tardiness or 3 unexcused absences in the previous 12 months. The second warning will consist of written documentation, in addition to up to a 3-day suspension without pay.
Termination: 7 incidents of tardiness or 4 unexcused absences in the previous 12 month period will result in termination of the employee.
Situations which will not be included when considering attendance in employee evaluations:
Work related injury or illness, death in family, Medical and/or Family Leave of Absence, Military Leave of Absence, Jury Duty, Fire Department, and any other leave of absence to which the employee is legally entitled.
Special consideration may be given to unusual circumstances on a case by case basis.
