Funeral leave will be granted to all full time eligible employees after 90 days of employment according to the following guidelines when death occurs in the employee’s immediate family.
Alberta – 3 paid days.
New Brunswick - 8 hours of paid funeral leave, with up to an additional 5 days of unpaid leave. The leave must commence no later than the day of the funeral.
For purposes of this policy, “immediate family” shall be defined as: parent, spouse, sibling, son or daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandchild or grandparent. Any additional time needed beyond these guidelines must be PLT unless an unpaid, approved leave of absence has been granted by the immediate supervisor and Human Resources.
