Please check this list to ensure your account works properly after conversion
Able to log onto computer
Remember to use the NetID (jd123) account instead of the Stern username
Access email
Send email from your netid@stern.nyu.edu (jd123@stern.nyu.edu). If you cannot, REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER AGAIN. This is due to the machine holding an old browser gmail session.
From a mac, if you have a shortcut for these drives, it should prompt you for a login and password
It may take a couple of hours, or you may want to try with a wired connection, to have the new NetID login be recognized when trying to reach the shared drives shortcut
Network drive mappings (H:drive, etc.) that were manually implemented may have to be reconnected using the NetID account.
Can access the applications that you used before the NetID conversion.
Can print to a network printer
Have access to any of the same Stern websites, apps, and/or terminals that you had before conversion, now using your NetID as the login
Access Papercut (Print@Stern) if applicable
If you had a Stern pages site, the same url should continue to work: (ex. pages.stern.nyu.edu/~jdoe)
Please note, sending emails to yourself may not show in your Inbox. If you would like to verify that your new address is receiving messages, please try sending from another address, such as your NYU Gmail account.
Additional Notes
On your mobile phone:
You may see messages such as “An account was deleted”, “new incoming email” or permission requests for your netid@stern.nyu.edu, etc.
You may need to reconfigure Gmail or other mobile phone apps to use netid@stern.nyu.edu; preferences may need to be updated.
If you experience issues on your mobile phone Gmail or other apps, try restarting your phone.
You will need to create a new signature in Gmail. For instructions, see the Gmail FAQ.
If you log into Asana using your Stern G Suite account please refer to the following instructions to update your Asana account: Asana update doc
Note that Asana favorites will not be preserved ones your account is updated.
If your username for 3rd-party accounts or applications is your Stern email address, that should stay the same. (For example, if you log into The New York Times website with your Stern email address as the username, that will not change).
Email and MFA on mobile devices “may” need to be reconfigured / logged into with the new NetID email account. First try to connect to a site that requires MFA, then use your mobile app, Duo, to authenticate.
