As allied healthcare professionals, Certified Athletic Trainers must work under the direction of a physician. This is why we must ask for student athletes to provide us with a note from their treating physician to guide us in what care is appropriate for your child. It is LISD Policy for to provide these notes for any musculoskeletal concern, systemic illness or condition. Communication is the key and we want to have open lines between the student athlete, parents and athletic training staff. Our team physicians provide us with direct communication (when appropriate) concerning the care of patients they treat and guidance for the athletes that they have not seen that we are treating for minor musculoskeletal concerns.
To help our staff provide the best care, please request a written treatment plan for your student when visiting a physician.
