EVALUATION:
Projects, assignments, and labs 60%
Quizzes & Exams 40%
General Expectations:
Students are expected to come to class on time and prepared to work both individually and cooperatively. If you arrive late to class and find the door closed, please knock politely and I will open it as soon as it is convenient to do so.
In the case of an absence, the student is responsible for collecting any missed notes and assignments. If you know you will be absent, particularly on an exam day, please notify me beforehand so that we can make appropriate arrangements.
Assignments are due on designated dates at the beginning of class. It is important that assignments are completed on time – the homework that I give you is always intended to enhance learning. Unexcused late assignments will not be accepted and will result in a detention and a mark of 0.
Proper format must be followed for lab reports – this will be discussed further in class.
Academic honesty – It is expected that students will use genuine, sincere, and fair means for the accomplishment of the assignments, tasks, tests, or projects that made up the evaluation of this course.
If you require additional help in any area of the course, please contact me about setting up an appropriate time to meet. Students are expected to be active and responsible in their own learning.
Lab Safety:
Because of the unique nature of learning and working in a science lab, safety is of utmost importance. Safety guidelines will be made clear to students at the beginning of the course. Students must follow written and verbal instructions carefully. Irresponsible behaviour that violates these guidelines will not be tolerated.
