What is TRIO?
TRIO programs are federally funded, and each program works with first-generation, low-income students at different stages of their academic careers.
TRIO-SSS is 1 of 5 TRIO programs at South.
Our two Upward Bound and one Talent Search programs serve pre-college students.
Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) serves prospective college students.
Student Success Services (SSS) serves current South students.
Who Do We Serve?
Current South students;
U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents;
Transfer students;
In addition, those who satisfy the above conditions must also identify as at least ONE of the following:
First-Generation College Student
(Parent(s) nor Guardian(s) has a Bachelor's Degree);Low Income
(Demonstrate Financial Need according to Federal Guidelines); orHave a documented disability

Are you a transfer student who would like help with your academic goals or being successful in college?
Then join the TRIO Program! TRIO staff can help in various ways, including choosing classes, helping you find & apply for scholarships, working with you through the transfer process, and supporting you while you finish your degree. You can review the list of services here.
TRIO Student Success Services students are more likely to be involved on campus and maintain higher GPA's. They graduate and transfer at higher rates. In other words, students who join TRIO-SSS are more successful than students who choose not to affiliate.
