About SPT

South Park Theatre Inc. was founded in 1995. In our inaugural season we offered four main stage and two children’s theatre productions. We now produce 6 Mainstage productions, 7 children’s theatre productions, 3 summer camp & numerous classes throughout the year.

The theater is located right in South Park, in Allegheny County at the intersection of Brownsville Road and Corrigan Drive. Our Mainstage indoor Theatre sits nestled in the park’s pine trees and our Children’s Theatre stage is a unique, outdoor venue that is the perfect setting for children to enjoy quality, family-friendly theatre.

South Park Theatre’s mission is to provide quality, affordable theatre while encouraging participation and involvement in the arts.

The artistic quality of shows is accomplished by:

Attracting and developing a quality actor base

Recruiting and hiring professional directors

Fostering and mentoring emerging professional designers

Selecting a variety of audience-pleasing and artistically challenging plays

Selecting scripts from many genres including dramas, comedies, farces, musicals, mysteries and biographies from both established and emerging playwrights

South Park Theatre is committed to keeping theatre affordable for our community. Main Stage tickets are $18 for plays and $20 for musicals. Children’s Theatre tickets are only $5 and children 3 years and under are free.

In order to keep our ticket prices affordable, we rely on the generous gifts of our audience, local corporations and funding organizations. All donations to South Park Theatre are considered tax deductible contributions to a 501(c)3 nonprofit

The Theatre’s day-to-day operations are managed by Executive Director Lorraine Mszanski and Director of Children's Theatre, Education, and Outreach, Emily Lorence-Ragan, the theatre's only full-time staff members. SPT hires local artists to fill out out technical staff for the season.  SPT also employs student interns during the summer season to help with all aspects of production as well as with administrative tasks. The Theatre also relies heavily on our volunteers to help with “front-of-house” activities.

South Park Theatre is wheelchair accessible with a ramp entrance and removable seats for wheelchair placement.  Speakers are placed throughout the seating are of the theater to assist the hearing impaired and large-print programs are available to patrons upon request.
