Course Goals and Objetives

Course Goals

    1. Reviewing foundational material given in Spanish 1.

    2. Introducing new vocabulary and grammar material that builds on Spanish 1 curriculum.

    3. Developing students’ communication skills, both writing and oral skills in this language.

    4. Connecting with other disciplines through the Spanish language

    5. Continuing to develop insight into the nature of Spanish language and culture.

    6. Using the Spanish language as a vehicle to witness to Spanish speaking people.

Course Objectives

By the end of the year the student will

    1. Narrate and describe events in the present, past, and future in Spanish.

    2. Use Spanish to communicate facts, questions, and opinions.

    3. Communicate in Spanish his needs and wants in a variety of settings, such as:

        1. restaurant

        2. travel

        3. hotel

        4. bank

        5. airport

        6. store

        7. doctor’s office

        8. city and country

        9. public services

        10. professions

    4. Give and follow directions in Spanish.

    5. Use new vocabulary and structure to develop writing skills in Spanish

    6. Understand various aspects of Hispanic culture.

    7. Witness in Spanish.

    8. Relate facts about selected places and activities in Hispanic countries.

    9. Read selected literary pieces from Spanish authors.

    10. Have an intermediate level of proficiency as established by National and the Tennessee Standards for Foreign Language Learning.
