Pike Center builds on a long-standing legacy of people who have pursued integrative scholarship as a strategic way of participating in the mission of God to bless the nations. This legacy began eight decades ago when our founder, William Cameron Townsend, set research a s a cornerstone in SIL's purpose. It then came to fruition under the leadership of the center's namesake, Kenneth L. Pike, who was the first to take up Townsend's challenge to complete doctoral studies in order to gain professional credentials as a scholar. In the intervening decades, more than 400 members of SIL have followed this example. See the following link for a growing gallery of SIL scholars, both past and present, The gallery is headed by Ken Pike and a full list of this scholarly contributions:
This gallery is automatically maintained by the Google Scholar service. Each Google Scholar scholar profile lists the scholar's publications in order from most influential to least (based on the number of times they are known to have been cited in the academic literature). The gallery of scholar profiles for an institution is similarly ordered with the most-cited author coming first. If you are an SIL scholar missing from the gallery, see Creating and Maintaining a Google Scholar profile for information on how to create your own Google Scholar profile.
The Fellows of the Pike Center are established scholars who are participating in the programs of the center. See the following link for the current list of Fellows:
Recognition as an established scholar is based on having a strong publications record as evidenced by the Google Scholar profile.
Pike Scholars are emerging scholars who are participating in the Scholar Development program of the center. See the following link for the current list of Pike Scholars:
Requirements for becoming a Pike Scholar include having a doctoral degree (or being in the process of earning one) and having a commitment to publish at list once per year.
