This is the private site at which Pike Center conducts business with insiders to the language development and Bible translation movement. For the public website, see: pikecenter.org.
Pike Center for Integrative Scholarship builds capacity for language development that serves communities on the margins by developing scholars and growing the needed bodies of knowledge.
Our vision is to inspire sustained growth of the knowledge and people that will propel language development for generations to come.
We want language to be an instrument of human flourishing as we believe our Creator means it to be.
Pike Center is not a separate legal entity, but is an initiative of SIL International that is open to participation by those in the worldwide movement of language development and Bible translation.
Under the leadership of established scholars who are Pike Center Fellows, we serve the following groups:
Emerging scholars who seek to further their own development and contribute to relevant bodies of knowledge
Practitioners and leaders seeking actionable information and resources to advance language development and Bible translation
Our integrative approach to scholarship supplements traditional doctoral study programs (that are typically narrowly disciplinary, focused on theory, and excluding of faith) by building scholarly capacity for language development that:
Integrates across academic disciplines
Integrates theory with practical service
Integrates faith with field of study
Through our programs, participants have the opportunity to learn the craft of scholarship and to develop and publish research under the mentorship of a Pike Center Fellow. They will also participate in networking events and other activities to cultivate meaningful relationships with peers.
