What do we mean by "reflection"?

The MAIN SUBJECT IS THE REFLECTION.. it is IN the reflection. We are NOT just taking photos of things that are shiny and REFLECTIVE... we are taking photos of the actual reflection and the subject in it. We use the reflective surface to create a unique and interesting composition with a clear subject. 

WATER DROPS AND REFRACTED LIGHT

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Stay ON CAMPUS!

   • NO bathrooms. Remember this is a classroom and SCHOOL rule.

2. Take at least 36 photos (one roll of film)

3. Place your 36 on ONE contact sheet and submit to Canvas (assignment 1). Then... 

4. NEXT, choose your BEST 6 images that...

   • Emphasize reflection and use reflection as the main focal point.

   • The reflection is the main subject, dominates the composition.

   • You are not simply taking a photo of a reflective surface, but using the reflection to create an interesting and unique composition with a clear subject.

5. Each of your 6 MUST:

   • ALL DIFFERENT REFLECTIVE SURFACES:

     • • mirrors

       • glasses

       • metal

       • eyes

       • puddles

       • windows

   • In focus

   • Good exposure (meter to 0)

   • Creative composition

6. Make sure to maintain THOUGHTFUL COMPOSITION 

   • Consider playing with textures to create visual interest and variety!

7. PLACE ON ONE HANDOUT (assignment 2).
