What are brackets? → [ YAY BRACKETS! ] ←
Bracketing is purposefully taking multiple photos of the same subject/composition to ensure you have the best exposure possible.
Think of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.... she tried EVERY option before she decided which one was best...
You are doing the same with your photos!
Today, you will take TWO SETS of photos:
Bracketing with Shutter (subject #1 in direct sun).
Take your image with a perfect exposure, where your meter is at the center!
From there, you will take the same photo 4 more times using bracketing. (-2, -1, +1, +2)
DO NOT CHANGE THE F/STOP!!!!!
ONLY CHANGING YOUR SHUTTER SPEED!!!
*You will keep your F/stop or aperture in the same place, and only change your shutter speed to adjust the metering.*
Bracketing with F/stop (subject #2 in open shade).
Take your image with a perfect exposure. Meter at 0.
Take the same photo 4 more times using bracketing. (-2, -1, +1, +2)
DO NOT CHANGE THE SHUTTER SPEED!!!!
ONLY CHANGE THE F/STOP!!!
Take each photo at different points in your meter line.
Make a new folder called Bracketing on your desktop
Place all your photos into the folder
Make a contact sheet
NOTE: you will likely need to change the caption of your images so that they appear in the correct order (-2,-1, 0, +1, +2) in your contact sheet.
