Tutorial Training 1: Levels of Questions
Lead students through presentation of Costa's Levels. Hand out reference paper for students to keep in binder. Read Three Little Pigs and pass out materials to groups of four for assignment. Read Three Billy Goats Gruff and work in groups to write questions.

Discuss Unwritten School Rules and Unwritten Life Rules
Peer editing of teacher letters
Email letters to staff
Day #4
Tutorial Training 2: Creating Questions
Discuss brief Tutorial Overview. Write five questions using a Tutorial Prework Template.
Day #5
Fun Day: AVID Islands project.
Week 3
Day #1
Assign Vocab sheet, due next Friday
Notes Day 1: Cornell Notes overview
Watch video about introducing Cornell Notes.
Further discuss the forgetting curve by looking at last page of the Cornell Notes Packet. (And Key to packet)
In the Cornell Notes Packet, write notes on front page for C,O, and then the C page.
Last 10 minutes of class, students write one Tutorial question.
Day #2
Students turn in tutorial question as they enter the room.
Tutorial Training 3: Asking Socratic Questions
Practice asking Tutorial Guiding Questions.
Day #3
Notes Day 2: Organizing Notes Presentation about writing on right side, and O and R page in Cornell Notes Packet.
Day #4
Tutorial Training 4: 3 column notes, learning to annotate the steps, and writing answer summaries.
Day #5

Assign first Progress Report. Write math class and teacher on index card for creating first tutorial groups.

Notes Day 3: Focus on note taking by watching How Children Succeed.
Assignment: Take three sets of notes on Cornell paper by next week. Write math tutorial question with last 10 minutes.
Day #4
First Tutorial. Slow process, explaining steps detailed on:
Tutorial Placards for each group
Day #5
Make a list of all textbooks needed for Tutorials.
Collect first Progress Reports. Hand back form to those who need study hall.
Write letter of gratitude on note paper. Play first part of "Express Yourself"
Write vocab results using cell phone or computers
Discuss how to talk to teachers about study hall
