Middle/High Teacher of the Year

The Seminole County School System is proud to announce the 2014-15 Middle/High Teacher of the Year. He is Mr. Jordan Arline, an alumnus of Seminole County Schools. Pictured above presenting the award to Mr. Arline is principal Brinson Register, deputy superintendent Corene Hamilton, TOY Jordan Arline, and superintendent M. Bonner.

Mr. Arline is a proud 1992 graduate of Seminole County High School. He is also a graduate of Bainbridge College and Albany State University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in History and Secondary Education. He is married to Ronda Arline and is the father of four wonderful daughters, Ciji, Candice, Desiree, and Jornea. Mr. Arline is the son of Rubye P. Arline (who taught in the Seminole County School System for many years) and Milton Arline. Along with teaching Mr. Arline is a Pastor; and the Founder and Executive Director of Men of Action, a non-profit organization geared to helping young men reach their full potential.

According to principal Brinson Register, “Mr. Arline has been an outstanding middle school teacher for several years and has now established himself as an excellent high school teacher. In addition to his duties and responsibilities as a teacher, Mr. Arline has gone far beyond the call of duty and been a mentor to many students. His selection as the Middle/High school teacher of the year is well deserved.” Superintendent Bonner adds, “I had the privilege of teaching Mr. Arline as a student. He was a good student and I am very proud of him for continuing his education and obtaining his teaching credentials. We are very privileged to have a former SCHS graduate as a teacher and role model for our students here in Seminole County. His selection as the building teacher of the year is a very good one.”

Seminole County System Teacher of the Year/ Elementary Teacher of the Year

The Seminole County School System is proud and pleased to announce that Mrs. Christy Croom is the Elementary building Teacher of the Year. She is also the Seminole County System Teacher of the Year. Shown above sharing in the announcement and presentation of honors with roses are deputy superintendent Corene Hamilton, principal Renea Pierce, TOY Christy Croom, and superintendent Bonner.

Mrs. Croom is a Seminole County native of forty-two years, but graduated in 1990 from Miller County High School. She is a graduate of Troy University with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and is currently continuing her education into a Master’s Degree. She also received her Gifted Endorsement from Valdosta State University. Mrs. Croom has eighteen years teaching experience. She taught three years at Southwest Georgia Academy, in Damascus, Georgia, taught three years at Jones-Wheat Elementary in Bainbridge, Georgia, and has been teaching at Seminole Elementary for twelve years. She has been actively involved in many teams and organizations within the school and community including serving as the SCES Yearbook advisor for ten years, assisting on the Leadership and RTI Teams, is a Differentiation Model Teacher, co-teaches with the county 4-H Club, and serves as vice-President to the Seminole County Quarter Back Club.

Mrs. Croom is married to Jeff Croom and they have two sons, Jeffery and Josh Croom. Jeffery is a 2011 graduate of Seminole County High and Josh is a 2015 graduating senior. Christy is the daughter of Alan and Sue Ingram and she has two brothers, Robert and Ashley Ingram. She is an active member of the Donalsonville Hebrew Freewill Baptist Church.

Superintendent Bonner says, “Mrs. Croom is a very caring teacher who is very involved in school and community activities. She does an outstanding job both promoting her school and teaching her students. She will represent our school system very well in Atlanta in the spring at the state Teacher of the Year competition.” Her principal, Renea Pierce added, "The first time I saw Mrs. Croom in a classroom I knew she was an outstanding teacher. She has worked diligently throughout her career to assist with extra curricular activities at SCES. It is a pleasure to work with her everyday."
