Support Groups

SDA's counselors run support groups for any student wanting or needing the service. Support groups can include themes such as: girl’s group, boy’s group, self-esteem/self-awareness, grief/loss, academic concerns and more depending on the needs of the students. The groups are always run by a credentialed counselor and occur one time per week. The group runs on the same day of the week and rotates through the periods. The student only misses each class one time a month and just for the last forty-five minutes of the period. The student is responsible for making up any missed work. Attendance in group is at the discretion of the teacher. Counselors typically run 6-8 groups per week.

Students should see their counselor if they are interested in joining a support group.
