RnB Band

The Sentinel RnB Band is a unique group where the students take the lead in the learning of repertoire. This auditioned group is recommended for students in Grades 11 and 12 who show an interest in playing by ear, and show commitment and independence in their learning.
The genres played by the Sentinel RnB Band include funk, soul, and even rock tunes from the last 5 decades and beyond.
Auditions each May are for the following:
vocals
electric guitar
piano/keyboards
saxophone/trumpet/trombone
bass guitar
drums and percussion
Students are accepted to the RnB Band based on:
Readiness to contribute to the ensemble
Senior students get priority
Audition Requirements:
1) Record a video of yourself performing two contrasting songs from List to the Right -->
* Arrange for your own backing track, and record yourself performing along with the accompaniment . Lip syncing is not permitted.
* Tip: choose songs that are contrasting (one slow, one energetic) that best showcase your skills and range.
2) Write a brief paragraph about what you do/bring to the RnB Band next year.
3) Complete steps 1 and 2 and submit the two recordings and brief paragraph via email to zvirag@wvschools.ca by May 24th using the subject: "RnB Audition - [your name]". You may also
*Please note: we are looking for potential, not perfection. However, there are limited spots available in each section (see breakdown in column on the right), so submit as clear a recording as you can, limiting background noise. In a quiet space, even older smartphones can capture high-quality audio!
