We offer a full orchestra program focusing on classical and contemporary repertoire. The orchestra is open to students in grade 8-12, and while it is a non-auditioned group it is recommended that students have at least three years of experience on their instrument.
The orchestra program focuses on the nuances of ensemble playing, and we focus on establishing a good sound with playing styles appropriate to the repertoire. Students who are looking for a more hands-on instruction regarding instrumental technique might want to consider the Grade 8 or Concert Bands.
The Sentinel Orchestra is open to the following instruments:
Strings: violin, viola, cello, double bass.
Woodwinds: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon.
Brass: trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba.
Percussion: each year we have a spot for one percussionist who primarily plays timpani or piano as needed.
