Dear Ms. Detrick’s Class,
Our class just finished reading The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. Of the 25 students in our class, 23 of us really loved it! (Mrs. McGuiness loved it too)Although this book was relatively long, it easily kept us captivated by the intense action and suspense. As a class, we would highly recommend this book to all of you.
There were many events in this book that grabbed our attention and kept it. For starters, The Hunger Games was a tournament consisting of 12 districts fighting for survival. In district 12, a young twelve year old girl was chosen to represent this district. Her sister, Katniss, stepped forward and volunteered to take her place. As readers, this event surprised us because taking the place of another individual was a very rare occurrence.
Another event that captivated us was when Katniss defiantly shot an arrow at the Game Marker judges to grab their attention. This action led us to believe she would receive a very low score. We were wrong!
This fantasy/science fiction book was filled with twists and turns and the plot kept us on the edge of our seats. And, there is more good news! This book is the first in a series of three books. We highly recommend you run, not walk, to the library and check out The Hunger Games!!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. McGuiness’ Class
