Q: What opportunities do students have to boost up their math average?
A: For each chapter, students may do the "Castle-On Line" task that corresponds with that chapter. The on-line grade may be swapped out for any lower quiz or homework grade from the same chapter. To activate the "swap-out", students staple the loose leaf paper used to do the computations from the Castle on-line task to the quiz or homework selected to swap out. On the loose leaf paper, write the date the Castle activity was completed along with the score. The next school day, students should place it in the basket next to Ms. Detrick's desk. This will prompt Ms. Detrick to verify your score on Castle, then switch your lower grade to the score achieved on Castle. It is recommended that students check their Aspen accounts to verify that the switch has occurred. (A note will appear next to the score that was switched.) If you LOST the paper that has the lower score, use your Aspen account to find the assignment label of the assignment you want to swap out. Include that label and your score on the loose leaf paper. Write the following: "I'd like to swap my Castle Chapter ___ for the lower I achieved of ___% on __________ (Label) from _________(date)."
If the score you achieved on Castle is actually lower than any of your homework and quiz grades, then you have just lost your opportunity to improve your average for that chapter. The Castle Score will only be recorded on Aspen if it helps your average.
All Castle swap outs need to be completed well before the end of the quarter.
To find the activity, go to "incomplete assignment." Select the current chapter and begin. Work will be automatically saved in the event that you need to return to the activity later. Unlike some of the Quia activities, you only have ONE chance at the activity. Do your best!!!
