What It Is:
Every year, we are very proud to present our graduating class and invite members of the community to be part of their success by serving as interview panelists in our senior exit interview process.
The senior exit interview is meant to mimic a professional interview while also providing students with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, share their goals, and reflect on their high school experience. The interview panels are comprised of Godinez staff and local community members. As a participant in this process, you will assess the students’ interview skills and successful completion of high school requirements.
Our seniors have been working hard to put together their digital portfolio. The portfolio is comprised of a set of informational documents such as their resume, transcript, and personal statement, along with a sample body of coursework evidencing their completion of the Common Core Standards and college and career preparation. As an interview panelist, you will have the opportunity to view the student portfolios in advance of the interview, just as with a job interview the hiring committee would have reviewed the candidates' credentials.
Planning Ahead
Interview panelists should arrive and check in with the Coordinator by 8:15 a.m. (see Arriving for parking and check-in location). Interviews will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and conclude by 10:30 a.m.
Each panel will interview five students each day. You will receive a list of student interviewees about two weeks prior so that you may review their portfolios in advance. Please feel free to bring a laptop or tablet to the interviews if you'd like to be able to refer to the portfolio during the course of the interview.
In order to make the day a positive experience for our students, the expectations for all panelists (teachers and community members) are as follows:
dress professionally
be on time
ask questions (from the list provided, or you may go off script when appropriate)
allow students to do most of the talking
give students your full attention for the duration of their interview
give substantive feedback in your evaluation, be specific about what the student did well or needs to improve (sample evaluation form)
