Grading Policy

35% Writing

· Students will write a minimum of two pieces of writing per quarter.

· Teachers may ask students to revise the first draft, and then average the draft grades and revision grades.

35% Tests and Projects

· Students will take a minimum of two tests per quarter.

· Tests are cumulative and summative.

· Projects may be included in this grading category.

20% Quizzes

· Students will take a minimum of two quizzes per quarter.

· Quizzes are short formative assessments.

· Quarterly Reading COmprehension passages will count as a quiz

10% Homework and Classwork

· Students are responsible for being prepared for class each day.

· All homework assignments should be completed neatly and submitted when due.

· Daily class participation and good citizenship is expected of every student.

Please note:

· Students are expected to complete all assignments. There will be no “extra credit” or “dropped grades.”

· There will be a final exam at the end of the year that will count as 15% of the final grade.
