Students who elect to attend the Upper Valley Career Center come from 14 associate school districts throughout Miami and Shelby Counties, as well as others who are accepted through open enrollment. Additionally, the Career Center reaches thousands of students through our associate school satellite programs. We are proud to reach as many students with career and technical education as possible, while working with home schools to allow for students to be active in extra-curricular activities.
The Upper Valley Career Center (UVCC) serves as a branch campus for Russia. Students may attend the UVCC if enough credits are accumulated.
It is important to remember that a Russia student who attends the UVCC is still a Russia student. He/she will graduate from Russia High School.
The student is encouraged to participate in home school activities and extracurricular activities. Both Russia and Upper Valley make significant attempts to communicate with students and keep them informed of activities and procedures at both schools. If a problem does arise, contact either student services (at UVCC) or the principal or guidance counselor (at Russia Local School).
Students who attend the UVCC are responsible for knowing what is going on at Russia School (i.e. meetings, practices, rehearsals, etc).
When on UVCC School grounds or sponsored activities, students are under the jurisdiction of the UVCC handbook. When on Russia School grounds or sponsored activities, students are under the jurisdiction of the Russia Local handbook. If a Russia/UVCC student wishes to remain at Russia for an activity (class play, etc.) he/she should contact the Russia principal or advisor in advance.
