Please feel free to contact Mrs. Gregg (e-mail) if you have any questions relating to guidance services.
There are three types of counseling services available to all students at Russia Elementary:
Classroom Guidance: Mrs. Gregg will conduct classroom guidance lessons with each homeroom monthly.
Small-Group Counseling: During the school year, students may have the opportunity to participate in small-group counseling sessions tailored to their individual needs. Such sessions create an environment where students can help and receive help from their peers, especially if they share similar experiences or emotions. Our group counseling sessions last for 4-6 sessions and are arranged through teacher or parent referrals. The sessions are scheduled at a time that minimizes the impact on instruction, in agreement with the classroom teacher. All children are eligible to participate with parental consent. If you are interested in group counseling for your child or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Individual Counseling: At the school level, individual counseling aims to eliminate any obstacles that might hinder a student's ability to be a successful learner. It takes place in a private setting and addresses any pressing concerns or needs of the student. This type of counseling is of a short-term nature, and if a student requires long-term therapy, they will be referred to an external mental health provider. Students can request individual counseling or be referred by a parent or teacher. All counseling sessions are kept confidential.
