4/11 Meeting Recap - Lots of Info!

Post date: Apr 11, 2014 2:35:27 PM

Math Topic - we started the meeting with a short video from Vi Hart on the Fibonacci numbers, which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahXIMUkSXX0

Dues - Get those to Ms. Wu in Room D220 by Wednesday morning if you want to get your membership official.

Points Sheet - Points sheets were handed out to members and associate members to record Mu Alpha Theta activities. I've attached it if you didn't get to pick one up. They are also in the yellow folder outside of my room, D231. You do not need to record Mu Alpha Theta meetings since I record those with your sign in.

Tutorials - Students put down the subjects they would like to tutor as well as the times they are available. We only expect members to tutor once or twice a month. We do not mind if you also record these hours for your NHS service hours so they can count twice. If you absolutely cannot do tutoring before or after school contact me for an alternative way to tutor on your own time. I will do more points for tutoring at Cedar Ridge than the alternative method but it also should count for NHS service credit.

Youth in Stem Conference: Sign up at http://goo.gl/TlV0H1 by today!!!! Free lunch and lots of activities. I'm going and Ms. Wu will probably be going too so we or one of the STEM teachers can sign off on your points sheet.

Cedar Ridge Math Competition: We will have a math competition on Wednesday, April 30th during 5th period for the UIL contests to determine Cedar Ridge champions for each event. If you have already been participating in competitions, just let your coach know you would like to attend. If you haven't, show up at one of the practices so we can tell you about the competition and give you a study packet and sign you up. Calculator and Mathematics Practices are on Tuesday mornings (alternating) and Number Sense is on Wednesday mornings.

Here are the times for the contest on April 30th
