MLL Program Overview

Goal:

To help ensure that multilingual learners (MLL) master English and meet the same challenging State academic achievement standards that all children are expected to meet.

Assessments:

Upon enrolling in public schools, children are tested to see if they qualify for MLL support. Students who qualify are tested every February on the WIDA ACCESS for MLLs English language proficiency assessment to monitor growth and to exit the program.

Services:

Students eligible for MLL services will receive the following support:

  • Sheltered Instruction from the classroom teacher(s)

Students eligible for MLL services may also receive one or more of the following supports:

  • Push-in support (support happening in the classroom, aligned to work being done in the classroom)

  • Pull-out support (happens outside the classroom either in the Language & Literacy Lab or right outside the classroom)
