I began my career in education as a paraprofessional in the Vancouver School District, having the opportunity to support students with disabilities, provide language services to English Language Learners and to teach reading interventions in English and Spanish. After completing my degree in elementary education and student-teaching in 3rd grade in Evergreen Public Schools, I continued teaching in Evergreen before moving back to the Vancouver School District, where I worked as a multilingual learner program specialist at the building and then district level. Eight years ago I had the privilege to teach a 3/4 split here at South Ridge, before having the chance to move into my current role as the Interventions and Supports Specialist. In this role, I get to use the knowledge gained from my years of teaching, Master's degree, National Board Certification, LETRS training, and IMSE Orton-Gillingham dyslexia training to serve students who qualify for Title I/LAP (reading) and MLL (multilingual learner) support.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to support students and teachers again this year through Title I/LAP and ELL services. As a Ridgefield High graduate, resident, and Roadrunner mother, I'm thrilled to be able to give back to this community.
