📘Finding Books at Your Child's Level📙

When your child takes the i-Ready Diagnostic, their Lexile Reading Level is calculated based on the results of the assessment.

    1. Ask your child's teacher for your child's Lexile level OR their "Fountas & Pinnell Level".

    2. Click on the following link to get a list of books based on your child's Lexile Level and interests: https://fab.lexile.com/fab/i-ready/

    3. Enter your child's Lexile Level, then select the categories your child is interested in to see a list of books.

We also recently added a feature to our school library in which we can locate books in our school library that are aligned to your child's "Fountas & Pinnell" level. Please connect with your child's teacher to find out your child's level, then follow the steps below to locate books in our school library that are appropriate for your child.

    1. Select "Advanced Search" at the top

    2. Enter the keywords you would or would NOT like to be used in your search

    3. In the drop-down box under the heading "Limit my search to..." choose Fountas & Pinnell. Your child's Fountas & Pinnell level should be the highest level book you search for, as this is their instructional level (meaning, this is not a level they can read without some help/guidance). FOR EXAMPLE, if your child is reading at a Fountas & Pinnell Level F, enter the following into the search boxes:

5. This will ensure that all books in our library up to your child's instructional level will be included in the search, meaning some books that are "too easy" as well as books that are "just right" are included in the search. **Please note: practicing books that are "too easy" can be a way to practice fluency and expression.**
