Happy New Year!

I hope that you all enjoyed a restful vacation. I would like to start this letter off by thanking all of you for your generous Christmas gifts. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness. I am very excited about the upcoming learning that our little people will be engaging in. Our theme this month will be Winter and Winter Activities. We will continue our work with the letters and sounds of the alphabet. Printing practice will accompany letter recognition as well as letter sounds. This will spill over into Math as we continue to practice our numbers from 1-10 and patterning. We will also start to do some measuring activities as well. For those children who are ready, we will start to practice spelling last names.

The alphabet sounds that we have learned thus far are: s,a,t,m,i,l,c,k,e,n,r,d,o. Please have them say the sound with the action to review at home. *To practice these sounds and gestures with your child, search French Jolly Phonics by Mme Ross on Youtube. For letters A-J: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVmJQ5qCzNs. For letters K-R: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNywOEpGU48. For letters S-Z (title for video is wrong): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDKd1fFjC_E *Please only practice those sounds we have worked on in class.

Here are a couple of versions of the alphabet song in French: https://youtu.be/5xuZxGirWQI and https://youtu.be/_LYy3P2okyw.

Brr! Il fait froid!

Please send your child with snowpants, boots, mittens and a tuque everyday.

Parent Reminders

For our special person theme this month, please send in your child's favourite Christmas gift. If this doesn't work for you, just send me a picture via email and we will discuss it. Your child should be able to answer questions such as who gave it to him/her, and describe physical features (colour, shape, and body parts).
