February's Newsletter

Kindergarten at a glance

This month, Paul et Suzanne will continue teaching us about winter as well as the animals and activities associated with this season. We will also be learning about family and friendship. In Math we will continue to review the numbers 6-10 and start to learn about measuring. We will continue our work with the letters and sounds of the alphabet. Printing practice will accompany letter recognition as well as letter sounds. For those children who are ready, we will start to practice spelling last names.

Letters and sounds we have learned to date: s, a, t, m, i, l, c, k, e, n, r, d, o, p, u, g. Please have them say the sound with the action to review at home. *To practice these sounds and gestures with your child, search French Jolly Phonics by Mme Ross on Youtube. For letters A-J:A to J. For letters K-R:K to R. For letters S-Z (title for video is wrong):S to Z *Please only practice those sounds we have worked on in class.

This month, we will be discussing belonging to a group or groups.

Valentine's Day

On February 14th we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in the class. Valentine's cards need to be sent in by Feb.11. If your child wishes to bring Valentine’s cards, please make sure that they bring one for everyone in the class.

Winter Weather

Please continue to dress your child in warm, seasonal clothing: mittens, toques, boots and snow pants when possible. We will continue to go outside when the weather permits.
