A Day of Healing, Remembrance & Thanksgiving
The Robeson County Disaster Recovery Committee (RCDRC) is extending a warm invitation to an upcoming Hurricane Matthew Anniversary Praise & Worship Service here in Lumberton, NC on Sunday October 8, 2017 at 4pm in the auditorium at Lumberton Senior High School The public is cordially invited to attend this free afternoon of remembrance and thanksgiving.
Nationally renowned worship leader and Robeson County native Evangelist Judy Jacobs will deliver an inspiring message of hope and renewal, and the service will include uplifting music featuring Kim Person, Tiffany Spencer, Rev. Josh Chavis, Rob Williams, Carla Monds, and The Robeson Community Mass Choir & Dance Team.
Why this community outreach initiative is so important
The theme for this years service is “We Are One United.” Ms. Cassandra Campbell, Executive Director of RCDRC highlights the importance of facilitating opportunities that help to bring our diverse community together while encouraging Hurricane Matthew survivors. “RCDRC and our fellow Long-term Recovery Group partners recognize that there are still many difficult days ahead and that the road to recovery will be long, In spite of this challenge we are reminded that We Are Stronger Together When We Are One United. For example, in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 we learn that ‘We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.’ So as we engage in ongoing and emerging efforts to ‘Renew Robeson’ collectively, the overarching goal of this gathering is to provide a loving space that allows our Heavenly Father to literally inundate the community with healing, thanksgiving, strength and faith as we begin the next leg of our journey together over the next 5 to 10 years.”

RCDRC is the key point of contact and member of Robeson County's official Long-term Recovery Group [LTRG]. We focus on working collaboratively and collectively with diverse strategic partners and the community to develop, coordinate, manage, and deliver recovery services for individual and families affected by natural or man-made disasters in Robeson County.
