Today's Goal: Today students will be able to change percents into decimals and decimals into percents.
Instruction
To change a percent into decimal it is important to remember that a percent is comparing a number to 100.
1. So, to make the comparison, place the percent as the numerator and 100 as the denominator.
2. Now read the fraction and write its decimal equivalent. Use a place value chart if necessary.
Ok, here is the easy way. Since changing a percent into a fraction is accomplished by dividing by 100, it means just to move the decimal two places to the left.
So, changing a decimal to a percent is also just as easy. Changing from a decimal to a percent means to multiply by 100. When we do this it just moves the decimal two place to the right.
