Percent of A Number

1. The easiest was to do this is to first change the percent to a decimal.
2. Remember, to do this simply move the decimal two place to the left (which means we divided by 100).
3. Now take the decimal and multiply it by the number you want to find the percentage of.
4. Your answer is the percent of the number.

The slide below has an extra step of writing a fraction first and changing that to a decimal. This is just to show that 9% is a ratio of 9 to 100. Just moving the decimal two place to the left and multiplying will get the job done.
