Today's Goal: Today students will be able to write decimals as fractions and mixed numbers and fractions and mixed numbers as decimals.
First read the decimals using the correct place value.
Write what you read as a fraction.
Reduce the fraction to lowest terms by dividing by the greatest common factor (or use Lola May).
Sometimes the decimal includes a whole number ( a number to the left of the decimal).
Don't worry about the number to the left of the decimal yet. Just pay attention to the fraction.
Change and reduce the fraction just like we did above.
Now take the whole number and put it to the left of the fraction. You have just made a whole number.
Fruit Shoot - Shoot the fruit of equal decimal value
Death to Decimals - Choose the decimal that is equal to the fraction given.
Remember, the line in a fractions means divide.
So...
Some of these problems never end. When a number repeats or a series of numbers repeat in a pattern it is called a repeat decimal.
