The Bang Game

Bang!: A Spelling & Sight Word Game

Objective

Through this game, students will learn to recognize and read sight words

Materials

• Coffee Can wrapped in paper (to make them look pretty)

• Spelling & sight words written out on popsicle sticks

• 3 popsicle sticks per can with the word Bang! written on them

How to Play

• Take turns drawing out the spelling/sight word sticks from the can and try to read them.

• If they can read the word they get to keep the stick. If they can't the partner tries reading it, and if he reads it correctly he gets to keep the popsicle stick.

• If neither player can read the word, it goes in a "don't know it yet" pile on the floor.

• When a Bang! stick is pulled out of the can the player who drew it has to return all their sticks into the can. The Bang! stick is placed in a separate pile on the floor.

• The game is played until all the sticks are drawn, and the player with the most sticks, wins.
