Welcome Back WWA!

I hope you all enjoyed your summer break and are ready for another wonderful year in the ART room. One of the greatest memories I have is the discovery that Art touches everything-- and I love bringing that idea to my students! Visual expression encompasses a vast variety of materials, experiences, techniques, feelings, and above all, individuality.

There is SO much creativity at our school...I can't wait to get started!!!

Congratulations to our 2018 PVUSD Arts Festival Honorable Mention Winners!

Congratulations to Neveah, Eliana S., and Shailey K. for winning the 2018 PVUSD Arts Festival Honorable Mention Award Ribbons. It was a great weekend that showcased WWA's finest work in Visual Arts, both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional artwork. I received many compliments and positive comments about the quality and craftsmanship of WWA student art, and was pleased to see many of our families at PV Mall. Thank you all for your support and most importantly, thank you WWA students for always reaching for the stars!

Every year, we are amazed at how fast the first semester goes! In that time, WWA students have continued to produce ART EXCELLENCE!

We are getting ready for our big Mandarin Night Banquet on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018. 5th grade has already completed their Clay dragons, and 6th grade will create some challenging Asian Warriors for our lobby display. We hope you will all attend this wonderful night in February.

We are also getting ready for the 2018 PVUSD Arts Festival at Paradise Valley Mall on March 3 & 4, 2018. WWA will be displaying both 2D and 3D art. Keep checking this site for updates as it gets closer!

Four students were selected to participate in the 2017 Arizona Dept. of Education's Art Contest We Love Arizona. Their artwork was selected for display at the Dept. of Education in Phoenix. More details to follow, but here is a look at their amazing art:

WWA artists are back in the saddle and as creative as ever. We had such fun making our Oil Pastel Monsters in several 4th and 1st grades...be sure to check them out on display in the hallway!

6th and 5th graders are up to their elbows in clay! We are preparing for a 3D Chinese Dragon display for the annual Mandarin Night Dinner in February. It's the Year of the Rooster, so 4th graders are painting a special artwork just for 2017. We can't wait to see the finished product!
