Extra Credit

Extra Credit opportunities are intended to enhance the language learning and cultural experiences in and out of the classroom.

They cannot be used to replace other assignments.

Attending/Performing in Cultural Events

If you attend a cultural event or perform in it, you can earn 5 extra credit points. Bring a program, take a selfie, and/or write a paragraph about the event.

This does not necessarily have to be related to German-speaking countries. Germans are very interested in cultural events from all over the world, so events from other cultures count as well. Examples:

- concerts, musicals, theater, opera, ballet

- festivals (Oktoberfest, Chili Festival, Pow Wow)

- museums (Arts Center, Steelworks Museum, etc.)

German Multimedia

Movies/TV Shows

Germany has a huge movie industry. In addition, American shows and movies are often dubbed into German. You can find many of them on YouTube and in other places on the internet.

View a show/movie in German, write a summary and list 10 words you learned for 5 extra credit points.

Caution: Movie/Internet content can be controversial; use discretion and get parent permission. Children's shows are best; they are also easiest to understand.
