Each Unit will have Lessons, Proficiency Checks, Unit Reviews, and Standard Checks.
These lessons will have one learning target which will be checked at the end. This will be called a Proficiency Check Quiz (PCQ) - They are not for grade, but a check to make sure there is understanding of the learning target for each lesson.
Proficiency checks will relate to the unit test given. We call this test a Standard Check. As it is a check for understanding of the standard.
Each Unit will have 2 attempts for the students to show understanding. The reason for 2 attempts is for students to learn that when you learn something, the knowledge shouldn't leave. That you have retained the information to use it later.
If a student would like to increase their score for any standard throughout the year. They have a couple choices.
Students can fill out a retake form, and practice to be ready for Attempt 3. This can provide a chance to show proficiency or highly proficient level of understanding.
Students can find the Aspire Project in each Class Review Lesson of the Unit. This is only to show proficiency however.
