Palapalooza

After a library lesson on holidays and cultures from around the world, third-graders invented new holidays.

The students drew inspiration from the book “Palapalooza” by Daphne Skinner, which tells the story of five friends who set out to create the perfect holiday.

Using library resources, the Port Jefferson students originated holidays, including a cookie-inspired Trefoil Day and literary-based Harry Potter and Authors days. Students then shared their new holidays with their peers by creating posters.
