About Me!

I grew up in Williamsport, PA, and graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA with a Self-Developed Major, Theory of Speech. At Florida State University I earned 2 Masters; Exercise Physiology and Library & Information Studies. After completing an internship at San Diego State University and embarking on a road trip back East, I worked as a Senior Librarian/Information Specialist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Needing a change and realizing I wanted to work with children, I set out to become a Certified Library Media Specialist. For 8 years, I worked in 2 special education schools in Anne Arundel County, MD, working with typical preschool peers as well as children ages 3-21 with multiple disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism, Cognitive Disabilities, etc... Because of the various mental and physical disabilities of my students, I was able to adapt and accommodate to children with different learning styles. In August 2013, after moving to Long Island, I became the School Librarian at the Edna Louise Spear Elementary School in Port Jefferson, NY.

Reading aloud to children is one of my greatest achievements in life. Having stuttered growing up, I rarely read aloud, and if I did, I was teased by my fellow classmates. But through perseverance, I overcame my fear and now find great pleasure in sharing my love of reading with children of all ages!

On a more personal note, my greatest joy is watching my 5 niece and nephews grow up! I love sports, especially college football and basketball (I played 4 years of college basketball), being outdoors, working out, attending live sporting events, baking, fashion, and hanging out with family and friends.
