Our Beautiful Library

Over the past few years, we have worked really hard to renovate our Library. Three areas were created for students and staff: Instruction Area, Reading Area, and Makerspace Area. Colorful furniture, new shades, carpet, and wall designs were purchased to create a welcoming and child-friendly environment.

Instruction Area

As you enter the library, the Instruction Area is on the left. With flexible seating and tables, students are provided with the 3 c’s: communication, collaboration, and comfort. They have a degree of choice and control over their learning environment. This area includes fiction chapter books, reference sources, graphic novels, a Smartboard and a Tech Cave, where we house our Green Screen, 25 Chrome books, 25 iPads, and our Robots (Dash and Dot, KIBO, Ozobots).

Reading Area

The lower level of the library is now our Reading Area. Students enjoy reading on our soft and colorful couch chairs. It holds the easy fiction picture books, magazines, and nonfiction books, as well as some of our most popular sections: Easy Reader, Cooking, American Girl, Minecraft, Robotics, Holidays, Titanic, Mo Willems, Weird But True, etc.

Makerspace Area

BEFORE

AFTER

As you enter the library, the Makerspace Area is on the right. Exposing our students to skills in STREAM fields (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math) is very important in the 21st century. Makerspaces are critical for our students to problem solve, and allow for them to practice skills which can be later used in their own careers. We have several Makerspace sections: KEVA Planks, 3-D printing, Duct Tape, Origami, Puzzles, Drawing, Color Craze, Lego’s, cards, Dominos, PowerClix, and Bloxels.
