Ms. Xu, Jun

Ms. Xu is currently a Chinese immersion classroom teacher at Paint Branch Chinese Immersion Elementary School. Born in the southeast part of China, Mrs. Xu is a native Mandarin Chinese speaker. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Jimei University, China and a master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Pennsylvania State University. Mrs. Xu has been working in the field of elementary Chinese immersion across a diversity of settings since 2013. She obtained Maryland state certification in World Language - Mandarin (PreK - 12) in 2019. Not only does Mrs. Xu possesses solid content knowledge of Mandarin Chinese, she is committed to working with students with different learning styles to ensure that learning is fun and meaningful. Moreover, Mrs. Xu is dedicated to integrating cultural elements in her daily instruction; as a player and tutor of the Guzheng (a traditional Chinese string instrument), she aspires to deepen students’ understanding of Mandarin Chinese in part through music!
