The SRO Program was begun with the intent to improve community relationships by participating with students in a non-confrontational setting and working with faculty and parents in the educational process. This is done by establishing rapport with the students and being available for them when they have questions or concerns, by establishing programs in concert with the school administration to address safety and security issues as well as educational programs and by acting as a counselor/mediator for the parents as well as the students.
The Perry Local School District houses two School Resource Officers throughout the district. Read the bios below to learn more about them:
Officer Blanc
Officer Blanc has been with the Perry Township Police Department since April 2011. She is currently assigned to the juvenile division as the D.A.R.E./SRO Officer. Officer Blanc formerly served with the Stark County Sheriff's Office where she was employed for six years. While at the Stark County Sheriff's Office she was assigned to the jail division, booking/receiving, and the civil division. Officer Blanc also served on the C.E.R.T. (Corrections Emergency Response Team) and competed at mock prison riots in Moundsville, W.V.. While at Perry Township Police Department Officer Blanc has received the following certifications: ALICE Certified Instructor, Advanced Professional School Resource Officer Certification, Advanced Crisis Intervention Team Member and Threat Assessment Team Certification. She was a presenter at the National School Safety Conference held in Las Vegas Nevada in 2019 and a presenter at the Ohio School Resource Officer/D.A.R.E. Conference in 2021. Officer Blanc is responsible for Edison Middle School, Pfeiffer Intermediate School, and six Elementary Schools (including St. Joan of Arc).

Officer Letta
Officer Letta has been with Perry Township Police Department since July of 2015. He is currently assigned to the juvenile division as the SRO officer for Perry High School. Officer Letta comes to us from Canal Fulton Police Department where he was employed for just under a year. While at Canal Fulton Police Department he was assigned to the road. Officer Letta graduated from Tallmadge High School in 2009. Officer Letta then attended The University of Akron and graduated from there in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and minors in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security. Officer Letta finished his education at Kent State University where he obtained his OPOTA (Ohio Police Officer Training Academy) Certification. While at Perry Township Police Department Officer Letta has received the following certifications: ALICE Instructor, Advanced Professional School Resource Officer and Advanced Crisis Intervention Team Member.
