Authentic Learning
Course Description: Several curriculum objectives require performance, performance that emulates authentic, real-world, work. Authentic learning is co-created with the student so that student can access the learning through their strengths, interests, and needs. Authentic learning provides flexibility and supports to engage self-directed and transferable learning of the guaranteed curriculum.
Authentic Learning just begins. It’s not perfect and gets better over time. A collaborative, professional learning community can be the best guidance to you in this work. Facilitators of well designed, authentic instruction become better each day with learner profiles of their students, proficiency criteria to drive the assessment and the work experiences. Formative Instructional Practices are used throughout (see: Authentic Learning - overview slides). Also see Authentic Learning District Resources/Research
