SAP Overview

Possible Reasons for Referral:

• • Evidence of depression or anxiety

  • Evidence of drug or alcohol issues

  • Grief related issues

  • Violence or safety concerns

  • Emotional disorders

In all cases, the first contact for the issues above should be the student's guidance counselor.

What the SAP Team is:

The team's role is to help raise awareness for students and parents of potential barriers to learning. 

We gather data, open communications, and refer families to outside professionals.

What the SAP Team is not:

The SAP team is not a substitute for mental health or drug/alcohol counseling. We make referrals to outside agencies, but we do not offer counseling or drug testing. Team members are not counselors; we are teachers who want to help connect families to services beyond the school.
